An infill housing development grant was approved at the April 11 City Commission meeting for Flat Rock Concepts, LLC., owned by Kim and Lonnie Betts. The Betts are planning to build six tiny homes at 715 North Buckeye as rental units.
In May, 2016, the property was rezoned to R-4 multi-family to allow the Betts to build the homes. The project will consist of six separate units with individual parking spaces utilizing a common drive. The tiny homes will be 350 to 400 square feet with lofts.
The grant is structured to provide $12,000 for the infill project with $6,000 provided upfront, and the balance available after the homes are built. The funds will be utilized to cover the cost of installing utility infrastructure for the tiny homes project.
Utility work is expected to begin on the project very soon. The Betts currently own two tiny home rental units at the entrance into Southern Hills just off South Buckeye.
