City of Coffeyville Adopts Rental Standards

The Board of Commissioners recently adopted minimum standards for rental housing which requires any person who rents property to obtain a residential landlord occupation license. Packets of information including the adopting ordinance, housing quality standards and license application have been mailed to landlords who are currently listed in the utility system.

Landlords have until June 30 to become licensed. The annual fee is $50 plus $2 for each rental property. There will be no inspections required for properties licensed by June 30. Any rental property licensed or acquired after July 1 will require an inspection by the City of Coffeyville building official.

Those landlords who do not receive the informational packet should contact the city clerk’s office at 620-252-6108. The packet along with additional information about the minimum standards for rental housing is available on the City’s website.
