CMLP Recognized As a Reliable Public Power Provider

CMLP RP3 Award
Coffeyville Municipal Light & Power (CMLP) has earned the designation as a Reliable Public Power provider (RP3) from the American Public Power Association. The designation was presented to Mike Shook, Electric Utility Director, and Steve Pratt, Electric Distribution Superintendent, at a recent conference in Raleigh, North Carolina.

The RP3 designation, which lasts for three years, recognizes public power utilities that demonstrate proficiency in four key areas: reliability, safety, workforce development and system improvement. Criteria include sound business practices and a utility-wide commitment to safe and reliable delivery of electricity. CMLP joins more than 240 public power utilities nationwide that hold the RP3 designation.

“This designation is about more than just reliability. It is about operational excellence,” said Neil James, chair of the RP3 review panel. “These utilities and their communities should be proud to represent the best of the best in the areas of reliability, safety, workforce development and system improvement.”

“This is a great honor, said Mike Shook, Electric Utility Director. “We take pride in the work we do to power this community and the area, and we are very happy to be recognized by APPA for our initiative and hard work.”

Shook noted the utility staff works diligently to meet best practices in the areas of safety, workforce development, reliability and system improvements. “It is evident in the robust electric system we have today and in this benchmark we received. It takes a great team effort to achieve this,” said Shook.

CMLP earned the platinum level that is the second highest designation.
