Peggy Steele is on a mission one property at a time. Doing business as Properties in the Ville,
Peggy has purchased a seventh property on Ninth Street to renovate for
market-rate rental property. The Coffeyville
City Commission unanimously approved her request for a loan through the
Distressed Property Reinvestment Program.
The property at 1122 W. 9th Street is in the
location of three houses which have already been renovated and next door to one
currently under renovation. The loan
will be for $40,000 for ten years at 2.75% interest. Once $30,000 is paid, the final $10,000 will
be forgiven. All funds go back into the
program for future applicants to use for renovation.
“We are calling our project Bungalow Row on 9th,”
said Peggy Steele. “Bungalow Row has
evolved from a simple idea to save one abandoned bungalow and will serve as an
example of how a revitalized neighborhood can look.” Peggy has used funding from the Distressed
Property Reinvestment Program for all seven of her renovations.
A Community Development Block Grant project was recently
completed on 9th Street comprised of street renovation, new curbs,
gutters, driveway approaches and sidewalks.
