Coffeyville Municipal Light & Power (CMLP) has been providing electricity for customers in a 67 square mile area since 1901. CMLP maintains 6 substations, 200 miles of distribution lines and 16 miles of transmission lines. During 2015, Coffeyville tracked 141 reported outages with 39.7% of those due to birds, animals and snakes; 17.7% overhead equipment failure; 13.5% to weather and 9.2% to trees and the rest to other causes such as underground failure, unknown causes, and or human interference.
This resulted in an average system availability index of 99.9984% which means power was flowing to consumers for all but 8.4 minutes of the past year.
